“We’d Better Start Packing!”

images1A mother was answering her young daughter’s questions about her daddy’s death. “God sent for him,” she explains. “And someday He will send for you and me. Nobody knows just when.” Thinking about that for a moment, the child said, “Momma, if we don’t know for sure when God is going to send for us, we might not be ready. We’d better start packing!” (Carr, Jesus: the Resurrection and the Life, http://www.sermonnotebook.org/new%20testament/John%2011_18-27.htm. Accessed April 20, 2009)

Christ is the Sample of the Resurrection. He is the Firstfruits of the coming harvest of resurrected bodies.  In Adam, all will die.  But in Christ, all who trust in Him, will live forever.  That is why we are sure that the dead in Christ will rise from the dead someday soon.

Because Christ is risen, live for Him today.  Your life and livelihood belong to the LORD.  He owns it.  Therefore, offer it to Him as your firstfruits offering.

Who are you related today—Adam or Christ?  Are you in Adam or in Christ?  To be in Adam is to die eternally.  To be in Christ is to live forever.

To be in Christ, you must turn from your sin and trust in Christ as your Lord and Savior. Do it today.  And when you die, you will rise from the dead also.
