Do you invent a Jesus whom people would want to kill because He did good things to them? No—the Jesus they killed was the Jesus that exposed their sinfulness and hypocrisy and agendas.
You have to ask the question. Why did his contemporaries kill him? Jesus was not crucified because He fed the hungry and gave sight to the blind. He was crucified because He attacked the sin of people. The sinful world could not endure the holy one of Israel.
Who hated Christ the most? They are the ones whom people deemed as holy—religious, powerful people in positions of authority. They hated Christ more, who claimed to be holy.
But their holiness was counterfeit, and nothing exposes the counterfeit faster than the genuine, the authentic. Fake religious people could not endure the holy one of Israel.
