“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth” (Ps. 46:10, ESV). God now speaks a direct word of prophecy. It is a command—“Be still and know.” It is a declaration—“that I am God.” I am the God who is your refuge. I am the God who is your strength. I am the God who is a very present help in trouble.
I live in the midst of my people. I have brought desolations. I shall stop wars. I shall defeat all your enemies. Therefore, be still and know that He is God.
To be still is to cease all worry and all doubts. To be still is to let the peace of God rest in your heart. To know God is to be still in the peace of God. To know God is to be still in the presence of God. To know God is to be still in the power of God.
To know God is to know this future reality. He shall be exalted among the nations. He shall be exalted in all the earth. God shall be raised high above all the nations. He shall be raised high above all the earth. He shall be glorified in all the earth. All the nations and all creation shall glorify God.
It will happen when Jesus comes again. “Every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus is Lord, to the glory of God” (Phil. 2:10-11, ESV).
