How God Will Honor You in the Kingdom Will Depend on How You Honor His Word

Jesus said, “But whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven” (Matt. 5:19). If you do even the least of these commands, you will be called great in the Kingdom! The adjective, “great” (megas), is an amazing word. It means, “of persons possessing power, rank, dignity mighty, great, eminent (TI 2.13).” (Friberg) “But whoever does them and teaches them will be called great, eminent, renowned, and distinguished in the Kingdom.”

Don’t you want God to call you “great” in the Kingdom? Someday, God will call you, “the great, Felix Ayala; the eminent, Manok; or the Honorable, RJ Aloyon.” I don’t understand why they call these Congressmen, “Honorable,” when they have done the dishonorable—rob the PDAF! I don’t understand why after all their corruption, they are still called, “honorable.” But if you obey and teach others even the least of commandments, you will be called great in the Kingdom.

What is Jesus saying here? Jesus is saying that the Law of the Lord is very important. It is very important in the life of Jesus’ followers. It is very important that it determines the future status of Jesus’ followers in the Kingdom of God. In other words, how you treat the least of God’s commands today, will determine how God will treat you in the Kingdom of God. How you obey the greatest of God’s commands today, will determine how God will honor you in the Kingdom of God. How you dishonor the least of God’s Word today, will determine how God will discount you in the Kingdom of God. My beloved brethren, how we obey or disobey God’s Word is so important in the Kingdom of God.
