The Attitudes of Enduring Faith – Conclusion

The writer of Hebrews wrote, “My righteous one shall live by faith” (Heb. 10:38; cf. Hab. 2:4; Rom. 1:17). In the Bible, faith is both an act and an idea. The act of faith is driven by the attitude of faith. These attitudes mark the faith of the righteous in Hebrews 11.

  1. Faith claims the future in the present (v. 1).
  2. Faith sees the invisible things of God (vv. 1, 3, 6).
  3. Faith wants to do what God requires (v. 4).
  4. Faith seeks to please God (vv. 5-6).
  5. Faith reveres God’s warning (v. 7).
  6. Faith looks forward to a heavenly city (vv. 8-10, 14-16).
  7. Faith obeys God through it contradicts God’s promise (vv. 17-18).
  8. Faith counts on God’s power to fulfill His promise (v. 19).
  9. Faith looks forward to what God can do (vv. 20-22).
  10. Faith cancels the fear of man (v. 23).
  11. Faith chooses the plan of God over the pleasures of sin (vv. 25-26).
  12. Faith counts on God’s future reward over worldly wealth (v. 26).
  13. Faith continues steadfast by looking to God (vv. 27-28).
  14. Faith takes the risk in obedience to God (v. 29).
  15. Faith persists in obeying God (v. 30).
  16. Faith takes action (v. 31).
  17. Faith overcomes all challenges (vv. 32-34).
  18. Faith expects a better future (v. 35).
  19. Faith perseveres in persecution (vv. 36-38).
